- Third digit is always 0
- Analytical writing is listed separately and is scored in a scale of 0-6 w/ half point increments
- Suggested 4-12 weeks to prepare as per the “Cracking the GRE 2011 Ed” – Princeton Review
Current GRE(1/30/11):
- Currently a computer adaptive test where the more you score right the harder the next question gets.
- If you feel its getting easy… thats a bad sign.
- The first third will be the largest increments.
- The second third will count less.
- The final third will count relatively little.
- There is no partial credit!
- 6 sheets of paper in the beginning of the test
What Is New For GRE's Future:
- The test will no longer be computer adaptive on a question by question basis
- Analogies and antonyms will no longer be part of verbal section of the test
- Reading comprehension will use highliting rather than line numbers to refer to segments of a passage
- Student may be allowed to use a calculator
- The test will de-emphasize geometry of data analysis in favor for data analysis and typical math concepts embedded in r.w, situations
- The new test will follow a new 1 point scoring rage
Tips:
- Because of its adaptive nature work SLOWLY and methodically in the first third.
- Please practice this unique pacing style
- Didn't take this into consideration when I was in the heat of the moment... heh.
- I think its because we are conditioned throughout life to manage time during tests and to just breeze through at the cost of possible stupid mistakes for overlooking details.
- It is nearly impossible to get a 650+ score without a strong vocab so... study words. Nuf said.
