What Students Say

Piano Students (or their parents) Say:

“Playing piano is something I’ve always dreamed of doing. I started taking lessons in March 2008. Prior to that I have had no formal music training. Ms. Wunsch doesn’t mess around. On my first lesson I remember looking at the material and feeling slightly overwhelmed. We went over what I would be playing in the 1st and 2nd years and honestly I didn’t really think it was going to happen. It’s a highly accelerated program. It has much more structure than other lesson plans I’ve researched. Throughout the next few months we took each piece one step at a time. The lessons were carefully selected and each piece built off the previous lesson. I really started to surprise myself. I especially liked the fact that I was playing with both hands from day one.

I am not an easy student to teach. I often have difficulties staying focused. Every time I would have trouble, Ms. Wunsch would go the extra mile to tweak my lessons to make sure I understand. I could also log onto her blog anytime I had a question. Many of the concepts have also helped me stay focused in my professional career. I find high value in my lessons as I drive 45 minutes each way every week. I’m here to say that I’ve achieved many of my goals. After a year and a half I’m playing a piece that a friend of mine who teaches piano would not even attempt. If you are not taking lessons from Ms. Wunsch, you are missing out! ”

“When my son first met Cynthia, he instantly felt a connection. From the first moment he touched the piano, he excelled under Cynthia's tutelage. Her patience knows no boundaries, and her knowledge of classical music is likely unrivaled. Cynthia's teaching methods are above and beyond the norm - expect advancement at a rapid pace!”
--Rachel Li, TX

“I don't know what Cynthia had done, but after one lesson with her, I was able to play Fur Elise again from the beginning to end, and I had not played the piano for more than 15 years prior to that. She's amazing at what she does, and she knows what she does very well. I would definitely recommend her for anyone looking for a piano teacher, Cynthia is exceptional!”

We hired Cynthia to teach piano to our son and daughter. She started them on classical pieces rather than current children's songs (e.g. row-row-row your boat), albeit these were simpler classical pieces (e.g. Tchaikovsky's Children's Album). We were impressed by her attention to technique, finger position, expression, and music theory. Suprisingly, she started them on songs using flats and sharps. She explained that they would have to learn all the keys anyway and it's better to introduce them as soon as possible so they don't become accustomed to just playing the white keys. Our children made significant progress due to the strong foundation that Cynthia gave them, and continue to love playing the piano. I heartily recommend Cynthia to anyone who is serious about learning to play the piano.

I have taken lessons from Cynthia for just over one year. Even with my busy schedule, I have been able to progress faster because of her systems than my daughter progressed over 4 years taking lessons from another teacher. She is passionate about what she does and adds great value to the process.

And now, one of my students, Jill Christiansen, is starting her own bliki on her progress with piano and you can read about her thoughts, trials and triumphs.

Voice Students (or their parents) Say:

There are plenty of "nice" music teachers out there. They teach your kids how to play a few songs and everyone is happy. But imagine if there was a music teacher who not only taught your kids how to think creatively and be master of themselves, but could do the same for YOU! Cynthia is anything but your average music teacher. I took voice lessons from her and in three weeks she had me stretching my voice from 2 to nearly 4 octaves! And it was EASY. If you know anything about music: you know that high C above the staff? It was simple. Not only that, but Cynthia will teach you how to correctly use your voice when speaking. As a consultant, my voice is key to my performance. Not only did Cynthia teach me how to open up my singing voice, she taught me how to save my speaking voice as well! A complete professional and expert in her field.

Have worked with Cynthia for only a couple of months. I have learned so much. Her knowledge and expertise in music is superlative. Cynthia makes you feel very comfortable and encourages you every step of the way. She is truly devoted to the music she loves and enjoys passing her knowledge to others with great results.
--P.D., TX

Cynthia is phenomenal! This is a woman of integrity, knowlege, and passion for her profession. She works well with kids and at their pace with a little push. She is results-driven, and makes sure you are comfortable with her approach every step of the way. She helped my daughter prepare a difficult song for a solo at a mother/daughter luncheon and her performance moved the audience to tears. Thank you Cynthia for your dedication, encouragement, and GREAT work!

While working with Cynthia I have discovered a person not only incredibly trained in her chosen field, but also widely educated across the board. I have experienced noticeable improvement in a very short time under her tutelage. I greatly look forward to continuing my training and expect fantastic results. If you are seeking voice work or piano teaching you need look no further. You will not be disappointed.

I enjoy doing Community Theater and act in plays at my Church. It is important that I keep my voice strong during the performance. Cynthia has helped me improve considerably. She really knows her craft, is able to communicate her advice to me where I can make the adjustmnets and thus I can feel the difference immediately. This is also very important when I have to give talks in front of business people and I need to do so in a commanding voice. I am very happy to recommend Cynthia to people who need to talk to a roomful of people and be able to do it powerfully and self confidently.

Cynthia Wunsch is the voice teacher I wish I’d had before I began my college career as a vocal performance major. Instead, I wound up suffering burnout and walking away from music altogether. But after stumbling across Cynthia’s blog a decade later, I eventually called upon her to undo the years of bad training and toxic thought patterns that had caused me to give it all up.

Cynthia approaches her teaching with the counterintuitive view that singing is easy. Ironically, it’s very difficult to teach someone that singing is easy, but Cynthia achieves just that with all her students. During my second lesson, I found myself able to reach notes that I hadn’t hit in years.

Not only does Cynthia teach her students proper vocal and piano technique from an anatomical perspective, but she’s also an expert in preventing career-ending repetitive stress and vocal injuries. Her holistic approach to vocal health includes positive attitude, massage — and an excellent cold remedy!

On top of all that, Cynthia is a fantastic musician who provides a depth of insight to the repertoire that no other teacher I’ve studied with (collegiate-level included) has shared in lessons.

I would recommend Cynthia to absolutely anyone looking for a piano or voice teacher. She is a gifted musician AND TEACHER — a combination that’s almost impossible to find.
